Syrovarnya Restaurant
[ task ]
Professional architectural and interior photography of the flagship Syrovarnya restaurant in Astana for the brand's digital portfolio, website update, and feature publications in design media.
01 / Challenge
The restaurant's interior is woven from intricate tactile textures: light-toned natural wood, woven radial patterns, lush live greenery, and large-scale pastoral paintings. The primary challenge lay in synchronizing contrasting lighting setups — bright ring-shaped LED lights, concealed contour shelf backlights, and directional spots, which typically cause harsh overexposures and parasitic hot spots on wooden surfaces in standard photography.
02 / MOSS Bureau Solution
We structured the shooting process around the grand symmetry and multi-layered depth of the space. Utilizing polarizing filters allowed us to completely eliminate reflections on polished furniture surfaces and the entrance glass facade, while bracketing (HDR exposure steps) helped perfectly capture the wood grain in the background, all while preserving the soft, ambient glow of the spherical decorative lamps.

Exposure Synchronization & Texture Balance
Drag the slider to evaluate the extent of post-processing compared to the raw RAW file. During editing, we performed precision perspective correction and perfectly aligned the vertical lines of the shelving units. Through digital blending, we merged multiple exposures to eliminate blown-out highlights around the lamps, meticulously cleaned ceiling technical sensors off the wood veneer texture, and enhanced the contrast of art accents to restore the true color depth of the dining areas.

[ Frame Specifics ] — Symmetry & Micro-Contrast of Shelving Zones
The central decorative shelving display requires an absolutely dead-center, frontal camera positioning. A minor optical axis shift of just 1-2 degrees breaks the visual rhythm of the shelves. To emphasize the structural geometry, we utilized a tilt-shift lens and meticulously enhanced the micro-contrast of clay and ceramic vases during processing, making them pop against the warm LED backlighting.

[ Frame Specifics ] — Integrating Large-Scale Art into the Interior
The large pastoral paintings serve as crucial color dominants within the dining spaces. The complexity was that directional track lighting cast harsh specular highlights across the thick paint brushstrokes. We took a series of local frames using a polarizing filter at various angles to completely eliminate glare, restoring the pure, vibrant color of the canvases in the final composition.

Architectural photography of the entrance group and main dining halls of the Syrovarnya restaurant. The frame captures a light, translucent facade illuminated from within and veiled behind cascading sheer curtains, illustrating a smooth transition from the public shopping mall space into the cozy, intimate ambiance of the venue.
Visual emphasis is placed on the precise geometry of the woven shelving displays, the illuminated brand logo, warm circular ambient lighting, and integrated large-scale eco-design elements. The open kitchen and wood-fired oven zones are processed to preserve dynamic motion while maintaining pristine texture definition.
